Source: The obituary is from a collection by Fauniel Hershberger, saved the 1950's, 60's and 70's. She was a life long resident of Fountain County Indiana.  The collection is now housed at Crawfordsville District Public Library.

Mrs. Verna Viola Knipe, 68, died at her home in Williamsport Saturday (April 22, 1972). Born Dec. 28, 1903 in Covington, she was the daughter of Bob and Belle Pugh Hull. She was married to John McDeltie Knipe in November of 1920 in Williamsport. Knipe, a contractor, survives. A resident of Williamsport for 28 years, Mrs. Knipe had also lived in the Carbondale area. She had worked at Community Hospital as a cleaning woman for several years, and also employed at Alcoa Aluminum Co. in Lafayette during World War II. Other survivors include a son, Clyde of Williamsport; two daughters, Mrs. Clara McClatchey of Danville, Ill. and Mrs. May Hutson of Attica; five sisters, Mrs. Myrtle Hayden of Attica, Mrs. June Henderson in Pennsylvania, Mrs. Hattie Watson of Hoopeston, Ill., and Mrs. Nell Fox and Mrs. Mildred Howe, both of Danville; six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Services were Monday at the Fisher Funeral Home in Williamsport, with the Rev. Douglas Dickey officiating. Burial was in Newtown Cemetery.  -- typed by Barbara B
